Case Studies
Creating recycled paper from our materials at a mill powered by our landfill gas, Cascades Fine Papers Group helps Waste Management deliver an annual report that completes the circle of environmental stewardship.
While many paper companies can print on recycled materials, few can say their material source is also their power source. Cascades Fine Papers Group can. Since 2005, the Cascades paper mill in Saint-Jerome, Quebec, has been receiving 75% of its power through landfill gas from our Sainte-Sophie Landfill.
This cost-effective, environmentally friendly energy source is also credited with keeping the plant open after rising fuel costs threatened the plant's continued operation.
When combining landfill-gas-to-energy with printing on post-consumer recycled paper, Cascades' clients (like Waste Management) can further help preserve the environment and all its natural resources in the areas of water use, residue management, greenhouse gas reduction, energy and raw material savings.
