Case Studies
The Big Green Bus is back on tour for 2009 and Waste Management is proud to be the flagship sponsor of this vegetable-oil-powered classroom on wheels.
The project, now in its fifth year, is the brainchild of Dartmouth University students who believe that even the smallest group of people (in this case, 15) can help promote climate change awareness and action. We couldn't agree more.
With Waste Management's partnership, this year's bus is a state-of-the-art mobile model for sustainable living – complete with solar panels, an interior made entirely of sustainable materials, wi-fi powered by renewable energy and a host of other innovative technologies.
We are pleased to support this one-of-a-kind, grassroots effort because of the unique way it informs people about a topic that is so central to what we do - which is finding ways to fuel the future through innovation. This is a chance for participants to experience, hands on, how alternative fuels work and the little things you can do that add up to a world of environmental change.
By setting an example of sustainability, the students in The Big Green Bus are teaching us all that you are never too old to learn something new. At Waste Management, we are just happy to help them along the way.
