What needs special handling?

Plastic Grocery Bags

To produce 100 million new plastic bags requires the energy equivalent of about 8,300 barrels of oil (for extracting the raw materials, manufacturing the bags, transporting them, and collecting the used bags). When disposed of improperly, plastic bags are not only unsightly, they can be hazardous to wildlife – and it takes a long time for them to biodegrade.

  • Plastic Grocery Bags

While plastic grocery bags can be used in the manufacture of other products, they should not be placed in your household recycling bin, unless your municipality has stated that it is okay to place them in the bin. Check with your municipality.
